| Falguni Priet is a Missouri fiber artist who is originally from India. She has managed to successfully blend East and West artistic sensibilities to create unique and stunning hand-painted and Shibori scarves beautifully rendered in 100% silk. The Shibori scarves on these pages are of the Japanese “Arashi” kind. The silk is first dyed or painted by hand. The designs are developed by wrapping the fabric around a pole, securing it and using precise angled forces to generate intricate patterns. A series of complicated overdye and underdye methods are used, resulting in luminous, translucent pieces of wearable art. Falguni's scarves will go a long way toward dressing up any outfit and will make an excellent gift for any occasion.
